Lust

By Will

I lust not after the beauty in her heart,
Her appetiser of passion served capable of burn,
It’s debauchery making mockery of my true self,
Like feeding salt to a man who is dying of thirst,
Her new love prompting potent oral tradition,
Satisfying mental images portrayed in a mind accompanied by crime,
Queen of black lace eternally destroying light,
Shadows learned through a child’s premature green eyes,
Weeping and gnashing tyrannising thoughts,
Lust is easy and love is hard.

Of all the worldly passions, lust is the most intense. All other worldly passions seem to follow in its train ~ Buddha

  1. Will ~ I’m blown away by your first ever poem. And the intensity of your feelings are almost palpable in every line. This is a poem that has not been constructed … it is a poem that has almost created itself from deep within your gut. Quite amazing.Thank you so much for sharing.

    • Peter, from you that means so much and if it wasn’t for you I really don’t think I would have written this piece. It has been buried for a long time and I am pleased that you urged me to let it out. Thanks kindly.

  2. It is not often I stumble upon a work that captivates me quite so thoroughly. May Peter and I publish this gorgeous piece of writing in the upcoming issue of The Poetry Tree…
    please say yes Will

    • Thats really kind of you, thank you. Yes you are welcome to publish this piece on the Poetry Tree I would be honoured, especially as it is my first ‘proper poem’. I am not sure if anyone else had had a problem with the URL? It may be because I have, slightly neurotically, changed the title 3 times from Lust to Her then back to Lust.

  3. ps: just so you know… I am trying to tweet the link … it will not let me copy paste it..

  4. That you’re writing poetry has me grinning ear to ear. It’s pent, and poignant because it’s pent. It’s sweet and ruthless, which is generally how a poem should be. Write more.

  5. Nice one Will !! I love the last line – so much truth in that line ! And “feeding salt to man dying of thirst” – brilliant poem mate ! Look forward to reading more 🙂

  6. This is a strong and impressive piece of poetry, Will, it should reach and stimulate the imaginations of a much wider audience than it may do just here.

  7. Hey! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against
hackers? I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked
    hard on. Any tips?

  8. You will always stay connected with the patient’s emotional
values at the same time you will get a good salary while working as a phlebotomy technician. My treatments started
immediately with phlebotomies on a weekly basis for about 6
months then became bi-weekly for a few months then monthly for awhile.

These web based exams can be taken by folks who enroll in approved training courses
in phlebotomy and people who have actual hands on experience with this field.

  9. Wow that was unusual. I just wrote an very long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up.

again. Anyway, just wanted to say superb blog!

  10. Wow, this paragraph is fastidious, my younger sister is analyzing these
things, thus I am going to tell her.
